#what is paternity benefit bill?
Paternity benefit bill (PB Bill) was presented in the lok sabha which contain of the paternity leave of (15 days extendable up to 3 months) be granted to new fathers .The idea at the back of this bill is to acknowledge that the role of the father as a supporter to child nurture is of great importance, and to give new fathers the opportunity to bond with their children without compromising on their need to supply for their family .Besides every male employee who has worked for minimum 80 days in a company , can take advantage of paternity benefits.
It is available as a legal right and or government program for many years .In 2014 (The international labor organization ) reviewed parental leave policy in 185 countries and territories.
#Benefits of paternity benefits bill:-
⏩It is a tool to promote gender equality. If women can take maternity leave then as a parent a father is also equally responsible for his child rearing.It will help to develop a society in which there is no discrimination of men and women.
⏩Improves confidence in caring.It actually improves a father's ability to care for children in the long term, He becomes more active and involved parent.
⏩It gives positive impact on a child later in life too.It lead to a stronger father-child relationship later in future.
⏩It benefits the parent's relationship.When both partners share equal responsibilities their partnership becomes even stronger.The parental bond makes the child happier.
⏩It increase employee morale. They become more confident and work more effectively.
#Disadvantages of paternity benefits bill:-
⏩No doubt it is costly to provide a paid leave and many companies cannot bear it.Work cannot be stop so a company has to hire a temporary worker,and this costs too much.Consider to the financial condition of a company, many companies are still incapable of it.
⏩Expectation is also a problem for many male employees,However, a company often expect from employee not to enjoy their off time.Some employees do not take their work seriously and take the full leave.
⏩Calculate the costs :- Calculating the expenses is one of the most important step before taking any decision.Employer can also start by giving half payment for taking paternity leave .
⏩Promote teamwork to manage workloads :-Plan to manage the workload when employee informs about the leave.HR can offer rewards for a team to manage the workload in the absence of employees which are on paternity leave.These rewards would be more cost-efficient than hiring a temporary staff and training him.
